St. Mary's Parish Center
A growing need for meeting space, offices, and classrooms required that a new facility be built in a picturesque harborside parcel adjacent to the church. This 12,000 square foot center provides those functions and more. Multi-functional spaces allowed for large gatherings, wedding receptions, performances, and a wide variety of programs that previously had no home. Completed on a budget consisting of gifts and donation pledges, St Mary’s Parish Center houses all parish offices and a grand space with a restaurant-quality catering kitchen. This building program could translate to many public building types, from the senior center to the meeting hall. It has also served as a health center for the Town of Scituate.
It sits quietly in the harbor with a low profile and appropriate scale, inviting entry and atrium, accentuated with generous landscaping.
