Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center

This project included the complete interior renovation to a 70,000 sq ft. interconnected skilled nursing facility. The original “Home for the Aged”, The Sister Lily Building, built in the 1850’s was abandoned as living space and used for office and storage areas. The renovation of this building, listed on the National Historic Register, was a meticulous process, saving interior detailing, mantels, and uncovering some pleasant surprises. It also brought the building systems into the current state of the art to provide comfort for the 11 new residents in this wing.

The Jepson Building, built in the 1920’s also received a full rehab for the 42 residents. The Olander Building, the most recent construction from the 1980’s was a tired, uninspired nursing home for the most dependent residents and the highest care needs. Each resident room, corridors, bathing facilities, dining areas and administrative spaces received a full rehab.

All of this work was completed within a 12 month period, maintaining the 125 occupied beds through 15 phases of construction. The result is the stunning transformation to a functional, efficient, comfortable home for elder care.
